CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL - WHY GIVE THANKS GOD

 CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL

WHY GIVE THANKS GOD

A life away from God is the worst decision of our lives.

Philippians 4. 6-13:

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! Your kindness be known to all human beings. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but let your petitions be made known to God in all prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report; if there is any virtue, if anything worthy of praise, think of this. What you learned and received and heard and saw in me, this do; and the God of peace will be with you. I greatly rejoiced in the Lord that at last you have revived your care for me; of which you were also solicitous, but you lacked the opportunity. I'm not saying this because I have a shortage, because I have learned to be content, whatever my situation. I know how to live humbly, and I know how to have abundance; in everything and for everything I am taught, both to be full and to be hungry, both to have abundance and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

These are the 3 simple points of why we have to give to God: the divine promises, our need to talk to God and to talk about everything with him, the value of divine things. As the culmination of this teaching, it would be good to leave a small task and that is to reflect on the 38 questions that God asks Job. And if naturally we can give answers to these divine questions, we will understand our absolute dependence on God and we will understand that for everything we have in life, we have to give thanks to God.

Do not be anxious about anything, but let your requests be known before God in all prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving: In our lives, we must be clear about what are the divine promises that are going to influence us and what are the ones that we can claim from God . All the promises that are described in the Bible are for all of us who have accepted the power of Christ redeeming us on the Cross of Calvary. However, we must know that some of these promises will be conditioned both on divine consent and an interaction on our part. For example, when we worry about anything, giving place for doubt and fear, God has no obligation to respond. This will clearly include our need to talk to God on a daily basis, and of course, we need to talk to God about everything. Talking with God is not necessarily a conversation of requests and supplications, God is interested in our whole life and wants us to share with him about the problems worldwide and that we can solve. In this way, we will give thanks to God in every situation and we will see how those divine promises will fulfil when each one of us is prepared.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report; if there is any virtue, if anything worthy of praise, think of this. It is not about thinking positive. We are talking about the need to think about the good things that God has already given us and for which we should give thanks: life, a digestive system in good condition, the economy that supports us until now, the couple, the family, the work, the praises, the prayers already answered, the good things that will come when receiving the answer, and a very long etc.

I know how to live humbly, and I know how to have abundance; in everything and for everything I am taught, both to be full and to be hungry, both to have abundance and to suffer need. Finally, let us love everything that God gives us. We lose many of the blessings for not being grateful and for loving what God gives us. We do not know how to appreciate the value of divine things and we lose control of our blessings because we do not love what we have received. For example, salvation is the greatest gift and divine gift, but many of us underestimate it when we make a mistake in the decision we make. We do not value how much it cost God the Father to see his Son, Jesus Christ, suffer on the Cross of Calvary.

God bless you.
