CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL -WHY DID JESUS DIED?

                 CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL

WHY DID JESUS DIED?

There will never be anything we can do to be saved but believe in Jesus Christ.

AS human beings, we must recognize our fallen nature, this means that we ourselves decided to abandon the intimate and personal relationship that we had with the Creator, God. In the story of Genesis, we find how human beings, deceived by their own reasoning, deliberately left the company, guidance, friendship and authority that God himself had given them.

Then the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man was a living being. And the Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and he put there the man that he had formed.

Genesis 2. 7-8

And the woman answered the serpent: Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the orchard, God has said: «You shall not eat of it, nor touch it, so that you do not die». And the serpent said to the woman: Surely you will not die. For God knows that in the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3. 2-5.

It was human thoughts and reasoning that prevailed over faith and obedience. Thus, human beings were separated from God. Because they, the individual, considered that he could be equal to God. And this very fact was what caused Lucifer to be exposed and removed from the heavenly court.

Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre: "Thus says the Lord God: 'Though your heart has lifted up and you have said, 'I am a god, I sit on the throne of the gods, in the heart of the seas.' You are but a man and not God, though you have made your heart equal to the heart of God.

Ezekiel 28. 2

We have all heard it said for decades: “God is love”. But what does "God is love" mean? To do this, we have to find the heavenly definition of love. This goes something like this: "give your life for another person, without expecting anything in return."

Sacrificial rituals are symbolically in our relationship with God. Thus, the first sacrifice that occurs in Genesis is that God has to separate himself from the Jewel of his creation. Therefore, he expels the human being from Eden. God himself sacrificed being with the human being, because we ourselves decided to be equal to God. So, within the symbolism of sacrifices, God tells Moses to perform the sacrificial ordinances of atonement for sins and reconciliation. For this, we would have to read the book of Leviticus. In it, we find the different options that God proposes to give peace to the human being when approaching God.

There was, then, a specific sacrifice to reconcile the human being with God and this had to be done once a year. It was not only presented on a personal level, but it was done by the entire community of God's people.

Jesus of Nazareth perfectly symbolised this sacrifice. That is, Jesus Christ incarnated that perfect animal that would be sacrificed. On this occasion, being a perfect and innocent sacrifice, paying for what he did not do, he immediately became the only sacrifice. Just as in the Old Testament the SEMITJA had to be fulfilled, putting all the sins on the heads of the animals that would be sacrificed for personal sins like those of the people, in Christ, the SEMITJA was also fulfilled.

They then spat in his face and punched him; and others slapped him.

Matthew 26.67

So, before the big question, why did Jesus die? I have two possible answers, of the many that he could be preaching:

1- Jesus Christ died, to demonstrate God's love for humanity. God gave himself completely, without expecting anything in return, he did, through his Son Jesus Christ of him.

Let us remember what the Apostle Paul said: Let there then be in you this attitude that was also in Christ Jesus, who, although he existed in the form of God, did not consider being equal to God something to cling to, but emptied himself himself taking the form of a servant, making himself in the likeness of men. And finding himself in the form of a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, and death on a cross.

Philippians 2.6-8

Without forgetting the prophetic words given by Jesus Christ himself: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.

John 3.16

2- Christ died to become the SEMITJA. Therefore, today we have to do the SEMITJA, making ourselves one with Christ. We no longer have to bring lambs for sacrifice. Today we become one with Christ because he is the SEMITJA.

We can do it, because the SEMITJA, that is, Jesus Christ, transcends time, ages, territories, etc. Therefore, we can approach the Cross of Calvary, touch the crucified Christ and give him all our or be so that he can take away everything that distances us from God the Father.

Christ died for our salvation, so that we can become one with him. Just as the ancient priests did: Then Aaron shall lay both hands on the head of the goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel and all their transgressions, all their sins, and putting them on the head of the goat, sent to the desert by means of a man prepared for this.

Leviticus 16:21

Paul himself spoke to us about the SEMITJA: With Christ I have been crucified, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20

The Apostle Peter also exhorts us to make a SEMITJA: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at His due time.

1 Peter 5:6

So, let us make the love of God and the SEMITJA a reality, touching Christ, accepting his Lordship over each one of us and making him reign once and for all in our hearts.

God bless you.
