WHO IS JESUS?: GOD OR JUST A GOOD MAN?

BUT, we must remember that for someone to consider himself God, especially in a fiercely monotheistic culture, and then to tell others that their eternal destiny depended on believing in Him, there is no slight flight of fancy but the thoughts of a lunatic in the fuller sense. Was Jesus Christ such a person? Someone who believes he is God sounds like someone who believes himself to be Napoleon today. He would be cheated and scammed himself, and would probably be locked up so as not to hurt himself or anyone else. However, in Jesus we do not see the abnormalities and imbalance that usually go with being crazy. His poise and composure would certainly be incredible if he were insane.

Noyes and Kolb, in a medical text, describe the schizophrenic as a person who is more autistic than realistic. The schizophrenic wishes to escape from the world of reality. Let us be honest; to claim that he is God would certainly be a retreat from reality. In light of the other things we know about Jesus, it is hard to imagine that he was mentally disturbed. Here is a man who spoke some of the most profound sayings ever recorded. His instructions have freed many people from mental bondage.

Clark H. Pinnock asks, "Was he deluded about his greatness, a paranoid, an unwitting deceiver, a schizophrenic? Again, the skill and depth of his teachings support the case only for his utter soundness of mind. If only we were as healthy as him"

The psychiatrist J.T. Fisher states: "If I were to take the sum total of all the authoritative articles written by the most qualified psychologists and psychiatrists on the subject of mental hygiene -- if I were to combine and refine them -- and weed out the excess verbiage -- if I were to take all the meat and no parsley, and if you had these fragments of pure scientific knowledge expressed concisely by the poets who still live, you would have an uncomfortable and incomplete sum of the Sermon on the Mount, (Matthew 5. 3-48) And I would suffer immeasurably through the comparison. For almost 2,000 years, the Christian world has held in its hands the complete answer to its restless and unsuccessful yearnings. Here is the model of a successful human life with optimism, sanity and contentment."

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HUNGRY AND THIRST FOR JUSTICE, FOR THEY WILL BE SATISFIED. BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL, FOR THEY WILL RECEIVE MERCY. BLESSED ARE THE CLEAN OF HEART, FOR THEY WILL SEE GOD. BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO SEEK PEACE, FOR THEY WILL BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD. BLESSED THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED BECAUSE OF JUSTICE, BECAUSE THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVENS. BLESSED ARE YOU WHEN THEY INSULT AND PERSECUTE YOU, AND SAY ALL KINDS OF EVIL AGAINST YOU FALSELY, BECAUSE OF ME. REJOICE AND BE GLAD, BECAUSE YOUR REWARD IN HEAVEN IS GREAT, BECAUSE THUS THEY PERSECUTED THE PROPHETS THAT WERE BEFORE YOU. YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH; BUT IF SALT HAS BECOME TASTY, WHAT WILL MAKE IT SALTY AGAIN? NO LONGER IS IT USED FOR ANYTHING, BUT TO BE THROWED OUT AND TRAPPED ON BY MEN. YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. A CITY SITUATED ON A MOUNTAIN CANNOT BE HIDDEN; NOR DO YOU LIGHT A LAMP AND PUT IT UNDER A BASKETBALL CAPACITY MEASUREMENT OF 8.75 LITERS, BUT OVER THE CANDLESTICK, AND IT LIGHTS EVERYONE WHO IS IN THE HOUSE. SO SHINE YOUR LIGHT BEFORE MEN, SO THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD DEEDS AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.”

Matthew 5. 3-16

Was He Lord? They say that General Norman Schwarzkopf, who led the war against Iraq, once said that his mission was not to forgive the Iraqis, that is God's mission, his mission was only to bring about an encounter between them. I will explain this at the end. I cannot personally conclude that Jesus was a liar or a lunatic. The only other alternative is that He was the Christ, the Son of God, as he claimed.

To summarise: the importance of making a decision. If we were before a doctor and we had gangrene. We have to choose whether he cuts off a finger now, or the gangrene continues advancing. If we do not decide now, later they will have to cut off our forearm, and soon, if we do not decide, the gangrene will reach the heart, and there will be no solution. The same thing happens with Jesus. It is preferable to say that Jesus never existed then to say that Jesus was a moral teacher who loved little birds and flowers, but that he was not God. Because if the person says that he existed or he was crazy, or a liar or he was God. The Jews of his time

They understood well when they reproached him for not being 50 years old yet and saying that he had seen Abraham, in John chapter 8. They were right, because only a liar or a madman could say that he knew Abraham, who had been born 2000 years ago. A liar or a madman cannot be a teacher of morals and pretty things. So we are left with only that he was God. Accepting that is revolutionary. Because I cannot say that Jesus is God, turn around and have a Coke. That truth would shock me. I would have to admit it, and absolutely recognise myself as imperfect in front of him. Repent and give him my life. I do not want to be like the doctor who urges you to cut off your finger now or you will lose your life later, but I want to pass the responsibility on to you. The decision to say who Jesus is will be faced now, or later when you see him face to face.

Do you remember Schwarzkopf? My mission is not to make an appointment with God for you to ask for forgiveness. Schwarzkopf prepared the appointment for them at gunpoint. You must not die today to know God. But you can recognise, if you are intellectually honest, that Jesus was not crazy, a liar or a good teacher. Jesus died on the cross so that by believing in him, you may have eternal life. That will change your life. And you will become a follower of Jesus.

That you decide who Jesus Christ is should not be an idle intellectual exercise. You cannot put him on the podium as a moral grandmaster. That is not a valid option.

He is a liar, a lunatic, or Lord and God. You must make a choice. But, as the apostle John wrote, "But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and"-more importantly-"so that by believing you may have life through his name" (John 20 :31).

The evidence is clearly in favor of Jesus as Lord. Some people, however, reject this clear evidence because of the moral implications involved. They do not want to face the responsibility or the implications of calling him Lord.

¿QUIÉN ES JESÚS?: ¿DIOS O SIMPLEMENTE UN BUEN HOMBRE?

Hoy quiero traerles una enseñanza del Pastor José Nuñez sobre la identidad de Jesús de Nazaret. Lo haré en dos entregas, no te lo pierdas:

    Cuando hablamos de quién es Jesús tenemos tres opciones: se le llama trilema: ¿Jesús es un mentiroso, un loco o Dios? 

 

Las distintas afirmaciones de Jesús de ser Dios eliminan la estratagema popular de los escépticos que lo consideran simplemente un hombre de buena moral o un profeta que dijo muchas cosas profundas.

 

Muy a menudo esa conclusión se pasa como la única aceptable para los estudiosos o como el resultado obvio del proceso intelectual. El problema es que muchas personas asienten con la cabeza y nunca ven la falacia de tal razonamiento. 

Analizando la afirmación de Jesús de ser Dios 

C. S. Lewis, que era profesor en la Universidad de Cambridge, había sido un ateo o agnóstico, pero luego entendió este tema con claridad. Él escribe: "Estoy tratando de evitar que alguien diga la tontería que la gente suele decir sobre Él: 'Estoy dispuesto a aceptar a Jesús como un gran maestro de moral, pero no acepto su afirmación de ser Dios'. Esa es la única cosa que no debemos decir. Un hombre que era simplemente un hombre y dijo el tipo de cosas que Jesús dijo no sería un gran maestro de moral. Sería un lunático, al mismo nivel que el hombre que dice que es un huevo escalfado, o si no, sería el Diablo del Infierno. Debes hacer tu elección. O este hombre era, y es, el hijo de Dios: o bien un loco o algo peor”. 

Luego Lewis agrega: "Puedes tomarlo por tonto, puedes escupirle y matarlo como a un demonio, o puedes caer a sus pies y llamarlo Señor y Dios. Pero no propongamos ninguna tontería condescendiente acerca de que Él es un gran maestro. Él no nos dejó eso abierto. Él no tenía la intención de hacerlo”. 

En palabras de Kenneth Scott Latourette, historiador del cristianismo en la Universidad de Yale: "No son Sus enseñanzas las que hacen a Jesús tan notable, aunque esto sería suficiente para darle distinción. Es una combinación de las enseñanzas con el hombre mismo. Esas dos no se pueden separar”. 

Jesús afirmó ser Dios. Él no dejó ninguna otra opción abierta. Su afirmación debe ser verdadera o falsa, por lo tanto, es algo que se debe considerar seriamente. Jesús preguntó a sus discípulos: "¿Pero quién dices que soy yo?" (Mateo 16:15) tiene varias alternativas:

-Primero, supongamos que su afirmación de ser Dios era falsa. Si fue falsa, entonces tenemos solo dos alternativas. Él sabía que era falsa o no sabía que era falsa. Consideraremos cada una por separado y examinaremos la evidencia. 

-¿Era Él un mentiroso? Si cuando Jesús hizo sus afirmaciones, sabía que no era Dios, entonces estaba mintiendo y engañando deliberadamente a sus seguidores. Pero si era un mentiroso, entonces también era un hipócrita porque les dijo a los demás que fueran honestos, a cualquier precio, mientras Él mismo enseñaba y vivía una mentira colosal. Más que eso, Él era un demonio, porque les dijo a otros que confiaran en Él por su destino eterno. Si no podía respaldar Sus afirmaciones y lo sabía, entonces era indescriptiblemente malvado. 

Por último, también sería un tonto porque fueron sus afirmaciones de ser Dios lo que lo condujo a su crucifixión. Muchos dirán que Jesús fue un buen maestro de moral. Seamos realistas. ¿Cómo podría ser un gran maestro de moral y engañar a las personas a sabiendas en el punto más importante de su enseñanza: su propia identidad? Tendríamos que concluir lógicamente que era un mentiroso deliberado. 

Esta visión de Jesús, sin embargo, no coincide con lo que sabemos de Él o los resultados de su vida y enseñanzas. 

Dondequiera que Jesús ha sido proclamado, las vidas han cambiado para bien, las naciones han cambiado para bien, los ladrones se hacen honestos, los alcohólicos se curan, los individuos odiosos se convierten en canales de amor, las personas injustas se vuelven justas. 

William Lecky, uno de los historiadores más notorios de Gran Bretaña y opositor dedicado del cristianismo organizado, escribe: "Estaba reservado para el cristianismo presentar al mundo un carácter ideal que a través de todos los cambios de 18 siglos ha inspirado los corazones de los hombres con un amor apasionado, se ha mostrado capaz de actuar en todas las edades, naciones, temperamentos y condiciones, ha sido no solo el modelo más elevado de virtud, sino el incentivo más fuerte para su práctica ... El simple registro de estos tres cortos años de vida activa ha hecho más para regenerar y suavizar a la humanidad que todas las disquisiciones de los filósofos y todas las exhortaciones de los moralistas". 

 

El historiador Philip Schaff dice: "¿Cómo, en nombre de la lógica, el sentido común y la experiencia, un impostor -es decir, un hombre engañoso, egoísta y depravado- ha inventado, y mantenido consistentemente desde el principio hasta el final, el más puro y noble personaje conocido en la historia con el aire más perfecto de verdad y realidad? ¿Cómo pudo haber concebido y llevado a cabo con éxito un plan de beneficencia, magnitud moral y sublimidad sin igual, y sacrificó su propia vida por ello, frente a los prejuicios más fuertes de su gente y época? " 

Si Jesús quería que la gente lo siguiera y creyera en Él como Dios, ¿por qué fue a la nación judía? ¿Por qué ir como carpintero nazareno a un país tan pequeño en tamaño y población, y tan profundamente adherido a la unidad indivisible de Dios? ¿Por qué no fue a Egipto o, aún más, a Grecia, donde creyeron en varios dioses y diversas manifestaciones de ellos? 

Alguien que vivió como Jesús vivió, enseñó cómo Jesús enseñó y murió como murió Jesús no pudo haber sido un mentiroso.  ¿Era Él un lunático? Si es inconcebible que Jesús sea un mentiroso, ¿no podría haber pensado en sí mismo que era Dios, sino que estaba equivocado? Después de todo, es posible ser sincero y no tener la verdad.

Today I want to bring you a teaching from Pastor José Nuñez about the identity of Jesus of Nazareth. I will do it in two deliveries, do not miss it:

    WHEN we talk about who Jesus is we have three options: it is called a trilemma: is Jesus a liar, a madman or God?

 

Jesus' various claims to be God eliminate the popular ploy of skeptics who see him simply as a man of good morals or a prophet who said many profound things.

 

Too often that conclusion is passed off as the only one acceptable to scholars or as the obvious result of the intellectual process. The problem is that many people nod their heads and never see the fallacy of such reasoning. Analysing Jesus' claim to be God

C. S. Lewis, who was a professor at Cambridge University, had been an atheist or agnostic, but later he understood this issue clearly. He writes: "I am trying to prevent anyone from saying the nonsense that people often say about Him: 'I am willing to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I do not accept his claim to be God.' That is the only thing what we shouldn't say. A man who was just a man and said the kind of things that Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would be a lunatic, on the same level as the man who says he is a poached egg, or else , would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the son of God: either a madman or worse."

Then Lewis adds: "You can play him for a fool, you can spit on him and kill him like a demon, or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let's not come up with any condescending nonsense about him being a great teacher. that open. He didn't mean to do it."

In the words of Kenneth Scott Latourette, historian of Christianity at Yale University: "It is not His teachings that make Jesus so remarkable, although that would be enough to give him distinction. It is a combination of the teachings with the man himself. Those two They cannot be separated."

Jesus claimed to be God. He left no other option open. His statement must be true or false, therefore it is something to be seriously considered. Jesus asked his disciples: "But who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:15) has several alternatives:

-First, suppose that his claim to be God was false. If it was false, then we have only two alternatives. He either knew it was fake or he didn't know it was fake. We will consider each one separately and examine the evidence.

-Was he a liar? If when Jesus made the claims about him, he knew that he was not God, then he was deliberately lying and misleading his followers. But if he was a liar, then he was also a hypocrite because he told others to be honest, at any cost, while teaching and living a colossal lie himself. More than that, He was a demon, because he told others to trust Him for his eternal destiny. If he could not back up his claims and he knew it, then he was unspeakably evil.

Lastly, he too would be a fool because it was his claims to be God that led to his crucifixion. Many will say that Jesus was a good moral teacher. Let us be realistic. How could he be a great moral teacher and knowingly mislead people on the most important point of his teaching: his own identity? We would have to logically conclude that he was a deliberate liar.

This view of Jesus, however, does not match what we know of him or the results of his life and teachings.

Wherever Jesus has been proclaimed, lives have been changed for the better, nations have been changed for the better, thieves are made honest, alcoholics are cured, hateful individuals become channels of love, unrighteous people become righteous.

William Lecky, one of Britain's most notorious historians and a dedicated opponent of organized Christianity, writes: "It was reserved for Christianity to present to the world an ideal character which through all the changes of 18 centuries has inspired the hearts of men. with passionate love, has shown itself capable of acting in all ages, nations, temperaments, and conditions, has been not only the highest model of virtue, but the strongest incentive to its practice... The mere recording of these three short years of active life has done more to regenerate and soften mankind than all the disquisitions of the philosophers and all the exhortations of the moralists."

 

Historian Philip Schaff says: "How, in the name of logic, common sense, and experience, has an impostor - that is, a deceitful, selfish, and depraved man - invented, and consistently maintained from beginning to end, the more pure and noble character known in history with the most perfect air of truth and reality? How could he have conceived and successfully carried out a plan of beneficence, moral magnitude and sublimity without equal, and sacrificed his own life for it, in the face of the strongest prejudices of his people and time? "

If Jesus wanted people to follow him and believe in him as God, why did he go to the Jewish nation? Why go as a Nazarene carpenter to a country so small in size and population, and so deeply attached to the indivisible unity of God? Why did not he go to Egypt or, even more so, to Greece, where they believed in various gods and various manifestations of them?

Someone who lived as Jesus lived, taught as Jesus taught, and died as Jesus died could not have been a liar. Was He a lunatic? If it is inconceivable that Jesus is a liar, could he not have thought to himself that he was God, but that he was wrong? After all, it is possible to be honest and not have the truth.

¿POR QUÉ MURIÓ JESÚS?

Nunca habrá nada que podamos hacer para ser salvos, sino creer en Jesucristo.

COMO seres humanos, debemos reconocer nuestra naturaleza caída, esto quiere decir, que nosotros mismos, decidimos abandonar la relación intima y personal que teníamos con el Creador, Dios. En la historia del Génesis, encontramos cómo los seres humanos, engañados por sus propios razonamientos, dejaron deliberadamente, la compañía, guía, amistad y autoridad que Dios mismo, les había dado.

Entonces el Señor Dios formó al hombre del polvo de la tierra, y sopló en su nariz el aliento de vida; y fue el hombre un ser viviente. Y plantó el Señor Dios un huerto hacia el oriente, en Edén; y puso allí al hombre que había formado. Génesis 2. 7-8

Y la mujer respondió a la serpiente: Del fruto de los árboles del huerto podemos comer; pero del fruto del árbol que está en medio del huerto, ha dicho Dios: «No comeréis de él, ni lo tocaréis, para que no muráis». Y la serpiente dijo a la mujer: Ciertamente no moriréis. Pues Dios sabe que el día que de él comáis, serán abiertos vuestros ojos y seréis como Dios, conociendo el bien y el mal.

Génesis 3. 2-5.

Fueron los pensamientos del ser humanos y el razonamiento, los que se impusieron sobre la fe y la obediencia. Así pues, se separaron los seres humanos de Dios. Porque ellos, el individuo, consideró que podía ser igual que Dios. Y este mismo hecho, fue el que causó que Lucifer, fue expuesto y apartado de la corte celestial.

Hijo de hombre, di al príncipe de Tiro: «Así dice el Señor Dios:“Aun cuando tu corazón se ha enaltecido y has dicho: ‘Un dios soy, sentado estoy en el trono de los dioses, en el corazón de los mares’, no eres más que un hombre y no Dios, aunque hayas igualado tu corazón al corazón de Dios.

Ezequiel 28. 2

Todos hemos escuchado decir por décadas: “Dios es amor”. Pero, ¿qué significa “Dios es amor”?. Para ello, tenemos que encontrar la definición celestial del amor. Esto dice más o menos así: “dar la vida por otra persona, sin esperar nada a cambio”.

Los rituales de sacrificios están simbólicamente en nuestra relación con Dios. Es así que, el primer sacrificio que se produce en el Génesis es que Dios, tiene que separarse de la Joya de su creación. Por lo tanto, expulsa al ser humano del Edén. Dios mismo sacrificó estar con el ser humano, porque nosotros mismos, decidimos ser iguales que dios. Así que, dentro del simbolismo de los sacrificios, Dios le dice a Moisés que haga las ordenanzas sobre los sacrificios de expiación por pecados y de reconciliación. Para esto, tendríamos que leer el libro del Levítico. En él, encontramos las diferentes opciones que Dios propone para dar paz al ser humano al acercarse a Dios.

Había pues, un sacrificio especifico para reconciliar al ser humano con Dios y este de debía hacer una vez al año. No solo se presentaba a nivel personal, sino que se hacía por toda la comunidad del pueblo de Dios.

Jesús de Nazaret simbolizó perfectamente este sacrificio. Es decir, Jesucristo encarnó ese animal perfecto que sería sacrificado. En esta ocasión, al ser un sacrificio perfecto e inocente, pagando por aquello que él no hizo, inmediatamente se convirtió en el único sacrificio. Así como en el Antiguo Testamento se debía cumplir la SEMITJA, poner todos los pecados sobre la cabeza de los animales que serían sacrificados por los pecados personales como los del pueblo, en Cristo, también se cumplió la SEMITJA. 

Entonces le escupieron en el rostro y le dieron de puñetazos; y otros le abofeteaban. Mateo 26.67

Entonces, ante la gran pregunta ¿por qué murió Jesús? tengo dos posibles respuestas, de las múltiples que podría estar predicando: 

1- Jesucristo murió, para demostrar el amor de Dios por la humanidad. Dios se dio por completo, sin esperar nada a cambio, lo hizo, a través de su Hijo Jesucristo.

Recordemos lo que dijo el Apóstol Pablo: Haya, pues, en vosotros esta actitud que hubo también en Cristo Jesús, el cual, aunque existía en forma de Dios, no consideró el ser igual a Dios como algo a qué aferrarse, sino que se despojó a sí mismo tomando forma de siervo, haciéndose semejante a los hombres. Y hallándose en forma de hombre, se humilló a sí mismo, haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.

Filipenses 2.6-8

Sin olvidar las palabras proféticas dadas por el propio Jesucristo: Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que dio a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que cree en Él, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna. 

Juan 3.16

2- Cristo murió para convertirse en la SEMITJA. Por eso, hoy tenemos que hacer nosotros el SEMITJA, haciéndonos uno con Cristo. Ya no tenemos que llevar corderos para el sacrificio. Hoy nos hacemos uno con Cristo porque él es el SEMITJA. 

Podemos hacerlo, porque el SEMITJA, es decir, Jesucristo, traspasa tiempo, edades, territorios, etc. Por lo tanto, podemos acercarnos a la Cruz del Calvario, tocar a Cristo crucificado y entregarle todo nuestro ser para que él, se lleve todo aquello que nos aleja de Dios el Padre.

Cristo murió por nuestra salvación, para que nos hagamos uno junto con él. Tal como lo hizo los antiguos sacerdotes: Después Aarón pondrá ambas manos sobre la cabeza del macho cabrío y confesará sobre él todas las iniquidades de los hijos de Israel y todas sus transgresiones, todos sus pecados, y poniéndolos sobre la cabeza del macho cabrío, lo enviará al desierto por medio de un hombre preparado para esto. 

Levítico 16:21

Pablo mismo nos habló de la SEMITJA: Con Cristo he sido crucificado, y ya no soy yo el que vive, sino que Cristo vive en mí; y la vida que ahora vivo en la carne, la vivo por fe en el Hijo de Dios, el cual me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí.

Gálatas 2:20

El Apóstol Pedro también nos exhorta en hacer una SEMITJA: Humillaos, pues, bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que Él os exalte a su debido tiempo.

1 Pedro 5:6

Así que, hagamos realidad el amor de Dios y la SEMITJA, tocando a Cristo, aceptando su Señorío sobre cada uno de nosotros y haciendo que él reine de una vez y para siempre en nuestros corazones.
