THANKS GOD

Although we do not see the end, God has everything under control.

            I grew up under the Catholic faith that I inherited from my parents. I learned to fear God and to respect the Christian symbols that I knew and used. I remember that, when I was about 10 years old, I would get up every day at 5 am, take a shower and get ready to go to the 6 am mass. There came a time when I wanted to become an altar boy and thus make an ecclesiastical career. But things changed course, I became a troublesome young man at school and dissatisfied at home. All the problems that had happened to me as a child blossomed and the internal wounds began to fester. I was not a good student, I stayed away from the scout groups, I was smoking and consumed alcohol a few times. Right there, when my mom no longer knew what else to do with me, is when I reencounter the Camino. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I cannot forget my past, because today I use it to bear witness to the power of God. However, God has forgiven me for all my mistakes and has made me a new human being. As the Word of him says: This means that everyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life has passed; a new life has begun!

“FOR IF YOU WERE CUT OFF FROM THE WILD OLIVE TREE BY NATURE, AND AGAINST NATURE YOU WERE GRAFTED INTO THE GOOD OLIVE TREE, HOW MUCH MORE WILL THESE, WHICH ARE THE NATURAL BRANCHES, BE GRAFTED INTO THEIR OWN OLIVE TREE?”

Romans 11. 24

Thank God, the Gospel of Christ is born in the same history of the Jewish people of Israel. With this, we find ourselves in the acts of the Jews in the OT, all the mistakes they made and thus, we are willing not to repeat them. In any case, and as the scripture dictates: Then he said: When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses, in the prophets and in the Psalms had to be fulfilled. Without the history of the Jewish Israelites, we would not have the blessing of being saved through Jesus of Nazareth. In the same way that God uses this rebellious human being like me, bringing words of blessing to many, in the same way, God uses the history that he has sustained with Israel for millennia, to bring blessing to each one of us.

“FOR I DO NOT WANT YOU, BROTHERS, TO BE IGNORANT OF THIS MYSTERY, SO THAT YOU MAY NOT BE ARROGANT AS TO YOURSELVES: THAT A PARTLY HARDENING HAS HAPPENED TO ISRAEL, UNTIL THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES HAS COME IN; AND AFTERWARDS ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE SAVED, AS IT IS WRITTEN: THE DELIVERER WILL COME OUT OF ZION, WHO WILL REMOVE UNGODLY FROM JACOB.”

Romans 11. 25-26

The more than 180 countries that exist, biblically, are those Gentiles mentioned by the Apostle Paul in his gospel. We are the gentiles that he mentions. But, every day all those who are tired, overwhelmed, and without hope must join the kingdom of Christ, because Christ will make them rest. Therefore, we will have to extend the Kingdom of Christ, in time and outside of it, because Jesus Christ died for all humanity and thus, give freedom to all living beings and to creation itself.

THE GOODNESS OF GOD

We fail to determine God's love for humanity.

BEING a Christian is something that makes me very happy. This does not mean that he does not have problems or difficulties. But, when I can observe the tormented souls far from the love of God the Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed by a deep feeling of pain and anguish for those who are suffering in prisons of bitterness and torment. I do not have a safe conduct to free myself from those chains of oppression. In any case, when I am aware that I am being tormented, I know that I can go to God so that he saves me, cleanses me and puts me back on the Path that I should never have left. The goodness of God is extraordinarily inexplicable. In the book of Jeremiah, God speaks to us of his loving and merciful power thus: And I went down to the potter's house, and behold, he worked at the wheel. And the clay pot that he made spoiled in his hand; and he returned and made it another vessel, as he thought best to make it. Then the word of God came to me, saying, Can I not make of you like this potter, O house of Israel? God says. Behold, as clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

“LOOK AT THE KINDNESS AND SEVERITY OF GOD; SEVERITY IS CERTAINLY TOWARDS THOSE WHO FELL, BUT KINDNESS TOWARDS YOU, IF YOU REMAIN IN THAT KINDNESS; FOR OTHERWISE YOU WILL ALSO BE CUT OFF.”

Romans 11. 22

In the Gospel of Christ, the goodness of God is clearly manifested. God is loving, kind and merciful par excellence. When God planned the salvation and redemption of humanity, he considered that it was necessary for him to act in the process. God denied himself and did not consider that he is the Almighty, he became a man, he gave himself up taking charge of all the debt that all humanity had pending with him. On the Cross of Calvary, with the sacrifice of Jesus of Nazareth, he brought his goodness to the maximum power, for each one of us.

“AND EVEN THEY, IF THEY DO NOT REMAIN IN UNBELIEF, SHALL BE GRAFTED IN, FOR GOD IS MIGHTY TO GRAFT THEM IN AGAIN.”

Romans 11. 23

I reiterate my words from other devotionals, salvation is not exclusive to a select group of people; Salvation is for all humanity no matter how deep it is in darkness. In any case, as the Word of God says: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not prevail against it. We must take the Light of Christ to all nations, knowing that the goodness of God is waiting to be manifested to all humanity. Let us extend the Kingdom of Christ in time and out of it, because God is love, goodness and mercy.

WE ARE GRAFTED

So important is the trunk, the roots as the branches.

I  grew up in the city, therefore, I knew little about the countryside until I decided to take an interest in it. Like almost all the boys, he saw that the fruit came from the market and that the meat and vegetables simply came from the supermarket. When we were about 8 years old, at school, we let the lentil seed germinate and we saw how that seed became an important part in the regeneration of new pods that would give more lentils. When I was living in Spain, I learned that good wines are born from rotten vines that have been grafted with selected branches that have produced very good wines in previous years. As Christians, we must consider that we are branches grafted onto the tree of faith in God who first gave this faith to Jewish Israelites like Abraham, Isaac or Jacob, so that we might enjoy salvation in Jesus Christ.

“FOR IF SOME OF THE BRANCHES WERE BROKEN OFF, AND YOU, BEING A WILD OLIVE TREE, HAVE BEEN GRAFTED IN THEIR PLACE, AND HAVE BEEN MADE PARTAKER OF THE ROOT AND OF THE RICH SAP OF THE OLIVE TREE, DO NOT BOAST AGAINST THE BRANCHES; AND IF YOU BOAST, KNOW THAT YOU DO NOT SUPPORT THE ROOT, BUT THE ROOT YOU."

Romans 11. 17-18

The Gospel of Christ is to bring the Good News of Salvation of Christ for all humanity. We have no right to consider that salvation belongs to us or is exclusive to a group of people. On that same path, we must not allow any religion, dogma or belief other than the Gospel of Christ to dictate or tell us that they have salvation. By grace we were saved, by grace let us preach the Gospel of Christ.

“FOR THE BRANCHES, YOU WILL SAY, WERE BREAK OFF SO THAT I MIGHT BE GRAFTED IN.”

Romans 11. 19

The growing need for a healthy spiritual life is born from the very heart of God. The problem arises because humanity is confused and blind, and other blind and confused people are leading it. So much post-modernist philosophy and ideology distances us from the very essence of Christ's life, because the ego of the human being is above all else according to these post-modernist philosophies. However, what Jesus Christ said: Then Jesus said to his disciples: If any of you wants to be my follower, he has to abandon his own way of life, take up his cross and follow me. The challenge is here: how will we teach the Gospel of Christ to a society that is enchanted with new philosophies or ideologies? That same approach was what the early church experienced; this church has survived because it listened and obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit. Let us assume this as a good life challenge and extend the kingdom of Christ, knowing that we are grafted into the tree of faith in God which is guided by the wisdom of the Spirit of Christ, acting in our lives.

I HAVE ALSO SINNED

God uses me despite my imperfections.

I DO NOT  know the first human being who is without sin. In any case, God can use whoever he wants to make an instrument of blessings for the rest of humanity. A few years ago, I remember having a conversation with my father-in-law, in which he told me about the need to be totally pure or holy to be a representative of God, which is totally true. The problem arises when people pretend that human beings who are priests of God, walk a foot above the ground and that our religious holiness is such that through our pores, we perspire angelic fragrances instead of smelly sweat. Personally, I really like to speculate, but considering that we priests should be like that definitely borders on stupidity.

"AND IF HIS TRANSGRESSION FROM HIM IS THE WEALTH OF THE WORLD, AND HIS DEFECTION FROM HIM THE WEALTH OF THE GENTILES, HOW MUCH MORE IS HIS FULL RESTORATION?"

Romans 11. 12

The Gospel of Christ reaches our hearts and will make changes in our lives. On many occasions, these changes will be transcendental and on others, it will take us years to achieve a definitive change. The Jewish people of Israel served as an example for the Church, with this it is intended that the same errors that we have recorded in the OT are not repeated. However, this does not mean that they are better or worse than us. The saying goes: “ignoring the past will make us repeat the same thing in the future”. For this reason, we have the OT as a biblical testimony of what we have and do not have to do.

"BECAUSE I SPEAK TO YOU, GENTILES. BECAUSE I AM AN APOSTLE TO THE GENTILES, I HONOR MY MINISTRY, IN CASE I MAY IN SOME WAY MAKE THOSE OF MY BLOOD JEALOUS, AND MAKE SOME OF THEM SAVED.”

Romans 11. 13-14

Jesus Christ said: Let one of you who is without sin cast the first stone… Woman, where are you? Does no one condemn you anymore? Nobody, sir. Nor do I condemn you. Now leave and do not sin again. If Jesus of Nazareth did not condemn this woman, why should we condemn others knowing that we also have sins? Why should we condemn nations, cultures, ethnic groups and races, knowing that in the recent past, we were also as they are today? Let us not condemn anyone, let us extend the kingdom of Christ, let us demonstrate the love of God for all humanity.

A FIRST TIME

God use me even if he does not understand it today.

NO human being likes to be experimented on. At the age of 36, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but I did not pay attention to this disease until, before shoulder surgery, it was verified that my blood glucose levels were about to produce a coma. From that moment on, I took control of my blood sugar very seriously and how I can help my pancreas to once again generate that much-needed insulin to give energy to the cells and thus have life within me. Israel is the pioneering country in research on the pancreas. A short time ago, I tried to make contact with the research doctor at the University of Israel so that she would use me when the clinical trials in humans begin. And although I do not like being used, I am willing to start this experimental medicine with me. So, if I am willing to lend myself for the good of others on a medical level, how can I refuse God to use me even if I do not understand it?

“AND DAVID SAYS: MAY YOUR TREAT BE TURNED INTO A TRAP AND IN A NET, INTO A STUMBLER AND IN RETRIBUTION; MAY THEIR EYES BE DARKENED SO THAT THEY CANNOT SEE, AND TURN THEIR BACKS FOREVER."

Romans 11.9-10

The Gospel of Christ makes us vulnerable before God. That is, God knows our lives and everything that happens around them. Therefore, if God wants to work with us, he will work from our weaknesses so that they become strengths. Many of us were not born in Christian homes, but God will use our lives before Jesus Christ, therefore, he can use it so that this testimony of example to others of his great power and love.

“I SAY, THEN, HAVE THEY OF ISRAEL TRIPPED THAT THEY MIGHT FALL? IN NO WAY; BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR TRANSGRESSION SALVATION CAME TO THE GENTILES, TO MAKE THEM JEALOUS."

Romans 11. 11

God's salvation for all mankind began with the people He chose, the Jewish people of Israel. From there, fulfilling what was promised, his word has spread throughout the earth. Not for that, we have no responsibility. In any case, now we are the ones who have the obligation to continue giving testimony to all the rest of humanity, to know God and much more, to all those who still do not know him today. God can use us even if it is our first time.

LET US CONTINUE WITH THE WORK

We live in a continuous relay race, are we ready?

WHEN he was a child, he attended the 6 am mass daily. My parents raised me in the Catholic custom. I learned what it is to have faith, and that one of the ways to teach this faith is by performing works such as religiously attending all scheduled church events, visiting the dead, sick and needy, giving to the beggar and help all my neighbours as a way to ensure my salvation and thus please God and calm his anger against me. When I decided to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I understood that these works are good and necessary for my testimonial life, but in no case are these works necessary for my Salvation. I also understood that God is not an angry being who is looking for me to sin to unload his anger for me, rather the opposite, God loves all humanity so much that he decided to give his own Son to rescue, save and redeem all Humans.

“AND IF BY GRACE, IT IS NO LONGER BY WORKS; OTHERWISE GRACE IS NO LONGER GRACE. AND IF BY WORKS, IT IS NO LONGER GRACE; OTHERWISE THE WORK IS NO LONGER WORK.”

Romans 11.6

When the Gospel of Christ becomes a reality in our lives, it empowers us to go preach the Good News of Salvation. This work is not exclusive to a few, in any case, it is an imperative action given by Jesus Christ to all Christians: Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world. Amen. Therefore, going to teach the Gospel of Christ and not doing work is totally null, because the latter is the direct consequence of the action of the Holy Spirit in each one of us.

"SO? WHAT ISRAEL WAS LOOKING FOR, IT HAS NOT REACHED; BUT THE CHOSEN HAVE REACHED IT, AND THE OTHERS WERE HARDENED; AS IT IS WRITTEN: GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES THAT DO NOT SEE AND EARS THAT DO NOT HEAR, UNTIL THIS DAY.”

Romans 11. 7-8

We have no more excuses, time is short and soon the glorious return of Christ will manifest. We must do the work of the extension of the Kingdom of Christ. We have to preach in season and out of season. Let us preach God as if there were no tomorrow, because perhaps it is so…

THE HOPE

God purposed to save all mankind.

IT is inevitable to see the sins of the heroes of the faith: Noah, due to his drunkenness, lost his composure and one of his children. Desperate for the rumours of the people, Moses disobeyed God and exterminated an entire people, perhaps committing acts against humanity. King David, to whom we owe most of the Psalms, was polygamous, prevaricated and murdered. Samson disobeyed the laws of the Nazarenes, he went to the sexual services of women who sold them. Rahab, practiced prostitution, with everything and that, she is one of the grandmothers of Jesus Christ. Esther hesitated and at first she refused to save God's people. Jeremiah repented every day of being used by God, which is why he is called the weeping prophet. Saulo de Tarso, murdered and persecuted the Igleisa de Cristo. With all this and this short list of imperfect people, each one of us would not have the hope of knowing that God loves us and we would not see the promise of Jesus Christ fulfilled for the salvation of humanity.

“I SAY, THEN, HAS GOD REJECTED HIS PEOPLE FROM HIM? IN NO WAY. BECAUSE I ALSO AM AN ISRAELITE, OF THE DESCENDANTS OF ABRAHAM, OF THE TRIBE OF BENJAMIN.”

Romans 11.1

When God sets a goal, there is nothing to stop him. If God purposed to do a task with any of us, God will do it. Obviously, the only thing that God will not do is interfere with our denial. But if, on our part is the desire and doing, God will work in our favor so that everything is carried out and done according to his will.

“GOD HAS NOT DISCARDED HIS PEOPLE FROM HIM, WHOM HE KNEW FROM BEFORE. OR DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT THE SCRIPTURE SAYS ABOUT ELIJAH, HOW HE CALLS ON GOD AGAINST ISRAEL, SAYING: LORD, THEY HAVE KILLED YOUR PROPHETS, AND THEY HAVE TAKEN DOWN YOUR ALTARS; AND ONLY I HAVE LEFT, AND THEY TRY TO KILL ME?"

Romans 11. 2-3

We have hope, God will never rule us out. God will continue to use imperfect people like you and me. Let us remember what his own word says: Instead, God chose what the world considers ridiculous to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that have no power to shame the mighty. So let us have no fear. Let us continue to spread the kingdom of Christ everywhere we are.
