THE WALKING DEAD?

The Holy Spirit gives us life.

ONE of the most popular fictional series of the vast majority of television providers has been: “The Walking Dead”. Such is the acceptance that this program has had that they already have 164 chapters in 11 seasons. I have to be honest, I have only seen a few episodes of the first season. But the plot is usually the same, the human being is infected with a virus that modifies his genetics. Because of this, the customs and ways of acting of the human being are radically modified. Without the ability to express any feeling, he turns away from empathy, becoming an egomaniac and a human carnivore par excellence. On many occasions I have asked myself: is this type of television series 100% fantasy? Observing and reflecting on our current behaviours we could say: are we not currently living dead?

“BUT YOU DO NOT LIVE ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, BUT ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT, IF THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU. AND IF ANYONE DOES NOT HAVE THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST, HE IS NOT HIS.”

Romans 8.9

The Gospel of Christ is absent from the vast majority of current societies. Communist countries are atheists. Almost all the countries that declare themselves secular, in reality their official religion is paganism. And the nations that decree the Catholic and Christian Religion as the official ones, their bad examples and the limits of corruption among their politicians, are unparalleled.

“BUT IF CHRIST IS IN YOU, THE BODY IS TRULY DEAD BECAUSE OF SIN, BUT THE SPIRIT LIVES BECAUSE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

Romans 8.10

If we can really reflect the Holy Spirit of Christ in each one of us, quite possibly our entire environment will have to change. If our environment changes, surely our neighbourhood will be leavened. If our neighbourhood demonstrates Christ, our city will change. And so, we will reach the ends of the earth. In this way the Great Mandate will be fulfilled: Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world. Amen. In this way, we will stop being living dead, we will be living people thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit.
