DEVOCIONAL CRISTIANO -ABORRECERLO

DEVOCIONAL CRISTIANO

ABORRECERLO

HATING IT

We cannot try to read literally all of the scripture...

WITHIN the amounts of words translated from the scriptures, we will find many that will bring confusion to our western mentality. When reading the word of God, we will have to understand that some books were written in Hebrew, others in Greek and later translated into Spanish with its different nuances, something that does not usually happen in their translation into English. Perhaps the word hate is one of them. On the one hand, we usually have the concept that this word is contrary to love. If we seek help, when looking in the dictionary it will say that to hate is to dislike someone or something. However, when we see the etymology of the word we find: from the late Latin abhorrescĕre which is: to move away, to move away, to avoid. For this case, that we are talking about the supremacy and importance of loving God above all things, we will understand abhorrence as distancing ourselves from everything that may prevent us from giving him all the love that God asks for.

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the main commandment.”

Mark 12. 30

That "everything" is a word with which we must have a special treatment. As human beings, we avoid the absolutism of "everything" and enter into negotiations with what we should not possibly do. "All" in this case means 100% and not 99.99%. What we must reflect on is about that 0.1% that keeps us from giving everything to God, and yes that 0.1% is what we should hate. The other aspect to keep in mind is that if that tiny percentage is what prevents me from loving others, what are we going to do?

“And the second is similar: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12. 31

Hating everything that takes us away from God also means giving ourselves the opportunity to begin to love others. In today's society, which is saturated by the Covid restriction measures, it will increasingly need the manifestations of the children of God to demonstrate that we really love God 100% as much as we love our neighbours 100% as much as ourselves.

God bless you.

CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL -THE FIRST COMMANDMENT

CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT

We are surrounded by laws and mandates, whether we want to accept it or not.

AS human beings we are surrounded by natural, physical and social laws. Traffic laws, civil and criminal laws, social laws, laws of gravity, laws of thermodynamics, laws for workers and employers, etc. These laws are designed to regulate our lives and although they bother us at some point, they are made so that we have a supposedly better life. Let us think, on the highway we should not travel more than 110 km per hour, when we exceed these thresholds, we put our lives and that of others at risk. For this reason, when we fail to comply with this law while driving above that speed, the competent authority will come and file a complaint with us and surely, they will remove points from our driving license. In our spiritual life we also have laws and mandates to comply with, as these also help us to have a life of exceptional quality and it will be for the benefit of all those around us.

"One of the scribes approached, who had heard them dispute, and knew that he had answered them well, asked him: What is the first commandment of all?"

Mark 12. 28

The funny thing about this matter is that all these natural, physical, or social laws have the same basis as spiritual laws: love God and your neighbour as yourself. Secularism and malicious ecumenism have tried to remove God from society and in many countries and in quotation marks they have succeeded. But how are we going to get the Creator out of his creation? And we definitely verify that it is simply a utopia that is intended to arrive.

“Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is: Hear, Israel; the Lord our God, the Lord is one."

Mark 12. 29

The first command is to love God. The intrusion of some erroneous philosophical concepts to the preaching has wanted to teach us that first we have to love ourselves to love God and then others. But the order by God is very clear and specific: love God first. God is love, that is why he commands us to love him. God shows his love for humanity throughout history; therefore, we must follow biblical examples to be able to do it according to God's will. Briefly, let us learn to love God, giving him the exclusivity, he deserves and simply all the rest of things will be given to us.

God bless you.
