UNGRATEFUL
We cannot calculate everything that we miss by not knowing how to thank.
WHAT is the word that opens the doors? It is what
they usually say to children so that they learn to be grateful, at least it is
what I hear in the infant classes I attend. Be grateful is an act of nobility
that dignifies whoever says it as well as whoever receives it. Being grateful
makes us great but makes us vulnerable in front of those who know how to
reciprocate this honour. If this is so, how much more should we be grateful to
the Creator? Every day I wake up wondering, why did God choose me to be a
bearer of your word to the nations? Even if we read in detail, King David
questioned himself in this way: When I see your heavens, the work of your
fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established, I say: What is man
that you remember him, and the son of man for you to take care of? Yet you have
made him a little lower than the angels, and you crown him with glory and majesty!
"But they, taking him, beat him, and sent
him away empty-handed."
Mark 12. 3
Jesus Christ is teaching through parables about
God's way of acting in the history of mankind. God made everything we can be
enjoying right now. Nothing that exists came out of chance, everything was
created by God. Therefore and understanding this truth, we are only stewards of
God's resources. In a loving way we say: our house, our car, our job, our
economy, but none of this ... is ours. However, God is not jealous in the
ownership of things, for he is sure and confident in what he himself speaks of
him. But as the word says: Although the Lord is on high, he looks at the humble
man, and from afar he recognizes the proud; if we recognize who God is and what
everything belongs to him, God will support our actions, because God wants to
reap the fruits of the harvest that he gave us.
“He sent another servant to them; but when they
stoned him, they hit him on the head, and they also sent him affronted."
Mark 12. 4
Let's not be like the Jewish people of Israel,
who, being God's chosen people, decided to reject hundreds of prophets sent by
God. They killed and chased them, at times they were on the verge of being
extinct. Now the ball is in our court, what are we going to do with this
information? What are we going to do to learn to be grateful? Until when are we
going to keep stealing the glory from God? Will we stop being ungrateful and
give God the glory?
