COUNTERINTELLIGENCE
Our lives are lost looking for a needle in the haystack.
MAYBE the title and the phrase celebrate have nothing to do with the text that we
are going to read today. But that's the same thing, on many occasions in our
lives, we entertain ourselves by a title or a portion of the content and thus,
we miss the core of the matter. Today we know that the Jewish people of Israel
missed the opportunity to deal directly with God because they did not accept
that "The Supreme" has sovereignty and can do what he sees fit to act
on behalf of his people. They intended that God will subject himself to human
laws given by God to human beings for the benefit of the individual. Therefore,
when Jesus of Nazareth is presented as the Son of God, they could not accept
it, because their minds were turned to only recognize what the Law of Moses said.
Therefore they clung to or apprehended the human and did not have the ability
to recognize that God, within his sovereignty, does what he wants and acts as
he wants, because for that, he is God the Creator of everything and we are only
his creatures.
“Jesus, answering, said to them: I will also
ask you a question; answer me, and I will tell you with what authority I do
these things."
Mark 11. 29
God can use and authorize an atheist and
scientific eminence to tell us about the creation of the world. God can
paradoxically give a theologian who does not believe in Jesus Christ all the
revelations necessary for us to understand and accept Christological salvation.
God Himself can use a corrupt president to bring peace to his nation. God can
and does what he sees fit so that each of us, in this way, will lead us to live
according to his grace, mercy and goodness. In this way, we can be busy
spreading the kingdom of Christ which is ultimately our life purpose.
“The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of
men? Answer me."
Mark 11. 30
Now is the time that we ourselves do a little
counterintelligence work towards ourselves: With what authority do we act? With
what power do we move? Do we really give God the glory and acknowledge his
sovereignty? Are we sincerely willing to die to ourselves and allow the Spirit
of Christ to act in our minds to give God only glory?
