CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL- THE ELEVEN

CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL

THE ELEVEN

Many of ours will abandon the Way.

IN Spain I learned a saying that goes like this: the dead man in the hole and the rest in the `bollo´. Precisely, the father of a friend, who was a baker and his local was called `El Bollo´, had just died. The next day, my friend came to work as if nothing had happened. Simply, he repeated: the dead man in the hole and the rest in the bun. There I understood the double meaning, in this case, that is given to this saying. Life has to go on and the absence of a person or a loved one, even if it is very significant for each one of us, should not limit our lives. Thank God, I have not had to experience a close family absence to have to question it. However, I know that the departure of a person to the afterlife is another process within or step in our existence.

“THEN THEY RETURNED TO JERUSALEM FROM THE CALLED MOUNT OF OLIVE TREES, LOCATED ABOUT ONE KILOMETRE FROM THE CITY.”

Acts 1. 12

Let us pray together: beloved God, this is my trust that I will be with you for all eternity. I beg you for each of my loved ones so that you act on them and we can also enjoy your majesty for eternity.

Jesus of Nazareth, had just been crucified, resurrected and was lifted up to heaven. However, life had to go on and the eleven disciples of Christ were to do the same. They had to return to the tasks in the extension of the Kingdom of Christ, just as Jesus of Nazareth himself had entrusted them. Another absence that they had to endure was mourning both the absence of Judas Iscariot, and in turn, they would have to reflect, analyse and thus avoid falling into the betrayal that he committed in the ministry of Christ.

“WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY WENT UP TO THE PLACE WHERE THEY WERE STAYING. THERE WERE THERE PETER, JOHN, JACOB, ANDRÉS, FELIPE, THOMAS, BARTOLOMÉ, MATEO, JACOB SON OF ALPHEUS, SIMON THE ZELOT AND JUDAS SON OF JACOB."

Acts 1.13

Let us pray together: Heavenly Father, creator of heaven and earth. I give you all the glory, honor and exaltation. I know that life has to move on, that's why, in moments of weakness, give me strength. In times of scarcity give me the daily provision. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Today, very respectfully, I would like to invite you to learn to move forward despite the personal, family, and loving absences that may be limiting our lives. Like the disciples, they had to take a short journey to return to their reality: life must go on. Yes, the absences, the deceptions, the betrayals, the deaths, make room in our lives. However, it is in our hands to move forward. Let us pay attention to the eleven disciples, who despite the double absence they would have to endure, managed to extend the Kingdom of Christ to the ends of the known earth. Today, that is our work, let us not hesitate for a second to do it, let us extend the Kingdom of Christ, because all humanity longs for the manifestation of the children of God.

God bless you. Remember to share this text to all the people you can.
